Monument Valley Winter Ride

Why visit Monument Valley by motorcycle in the winter? Why not? There are at least a few 50 degree days in any winter month. There are various scenic routes between western Colorado and Monument Valley suitable for winter riding. If the weather turns nasty, a Colorado rider in the Grand Junction to Montrose area can get to Monument Valley and home again without crossing a mountain pass by either the Grand Junction-Moab route via I-70 and UT128 or CO 141 through Gateway and Naturita. January and February room rates at Goulding's Lodge are less than half the peak season rates. The restaurant isn't crowded. Monument Valley itself looks much the same summer or winter. It's easier to keep warm in the winter than cool in the summer. I prefer winter.
